Now for the actual pedals. These bushings will be the bottom of the pedal and will pivot on the bolt in the upright assemblies. They were made from 1 inch round stock on the lathe with holes drill all the way through them.
...................Here you can see how they will fit on the brackets ahead of the spacers.
...................
Next a pedal was drawn full size on some card board. The double line around the outside of it represents flat strap that will be wrapped around the main pedal piece.
...................
Enough of the pedal was cut out so that it would fit in the vise on the mill/drill and a hole the size of the bushing was drilled into it at the bottom.
...................
Then it was cut with the plasma cutter to the final shape leaving 1/2 of the hole (arrow) where the bushing will be welded on.
...................
Here the bushing has been welded to the bottom.
...................
A slot was made in the strap that will wrap around the pedal.
...................
The strap was bent and then the pedal was inserted through the slot and welded in place. I wanted this raised area on the pedal where my driving boots will push on it to give the boot something to grip on.
...................
The strap was then wrapped on around the pedal. After this picture another piece was added to the other side and they joined at the bushing back.
...................
These pins were made next. The flat part is there so that they can be welded to the pedal and the round end with the shoulder and hole are where the linkage going back to the motor will attach. The piece of strap on the top one just shows how the linkage will attach.

Here the pin has been tacked onto the pedal and ..................
